Classification of refractory materials

Classification:
A、 Classification by chemical composition
(1) Silica products;
(2) aluminum silicate refractory products;
(3) Magnesium refractory products;
(4) dolomite refractory products;
(5) chrome refractory products;
(6) carbonaceous refractory products;
(7) zirconium products;
(8) special products.
B、 By chemical characteristics
(1) acidic refractory. Acid refractory material is based on silica as the main component of the refractory material, mainly refers to the silica brick and zircon brick. Acidic refractory materials can be resistant to acid slag erosion.
(2) neutral refractory. Neutral refractory mainly refers to refractory materials such as corundum refractory brick, high alumina brick, silicon carbide brick, silicon nitride brick and carbon refractory brick, mainly made of aluminum oxide, chromium oxide, silicon carbide and carbon as the main components. Its characteristics are acidic slag and alkaline slag have a corrosion resistance.
(3) alkaline refractory materials. Alkaline refractories mainly refers to magnesium oxide, calcium oxide as the main component of the refractory materials, including magnesia brick, magnesium brick, magnesia brick, dolomite brick and so on. Alkaline refractories have a strong resistance to alkaline slag.
C、Classification by refractoriness
(1) ordinary refractory, refractoriness of 1580 ~ 1770 ℃;
(2) high-grade refractory, refractoriness of 1770 ~ 2000 ℃;
(3) premium refractory, refractoriness higher than 2000 ℃.
D、Sorted by molding process
(1) natural rock;
(2) mud casting molding refractories;
(3) plastic molding refractories;
(4) semi-dry forming refractory;
(5) ramming (including mechanical ramming and artificial ramming) molding refractories
(6) fused products
E、Sorted by firing method
(1) not burning brick;
(2) firing brick;
(3) Unshaped refractories
F、 Classification by porosity
(1) special dense products, significant porosity less than 3%;
(2) high density products, significant porosity less than 3% to 10%
(3) dense products, significant porosity less than 10% to 16%;
(4) sintered products, significant porosity less than 16% to 20%;
(5) ordinary products, significant porosity less than 20% to 30%;
(6) light products, significant porosity of less than 45% to 85%;
(7) super light products, significant porosity higher than 85%.
G、Sort by shape and size
(1) standard products;
(2) Ordinary products;
(3) shaped products;
(4) special products;
(5) super special products.
    In addition, refractories can also be divided into refractory materials for blast furnace, refractory for converter, refractory for continuous casting, refractory for glass kiln, refractory for cement kiln, and so on.
